Repeaters serve as power distributors that can be built in any place that is not already powered, even when no Reactor is present. Any other structure can be built in the proximity of a powered Repeater as if it were the Reactor. If a Repeater is unused (meaning that there is no building in its energy reach) for 90 seconds, it will automatically self destruct. If the reactor is offline for 90 seconds, the repeaters will also self destruct.
Once repeaters are available (stage 2), humans sometimes have a builder in their attack team who makes repeaters near the enemy base and on the way. Energy weapons can be recharged at the repeater, so it allows humans to use their energy weapons much more deliberately. Repeaters can also be used as spam buildings to prevent aliens from evolving, because they can only do that when no human player or building is nearby. This strategy is not accepted everywhere.
