Introducing - The Ministry Of Frag!

What is the Ministry of Frag?

We're a fine example of that rare beast: a commercial enterprise based on the efforts of the Open Source movement. Free and open source software is one of the most incredible examples of how a spirit of community and cooperation can bring benefits for everyone involved, and we as many others have begun to feel that its rise is an inevitable demonstration of the best side of humanity and a real cause for hope in the future of information technology. But it's not without its drawbacks, and one of the most common issues that arise is the relative difficulty of raising money for resources, such as pizzas and coffee. In response to this problem, Ministry of Frag website was set up in December '08 by a few open-source game enthusiasts (that's us!) to bring a little tangible recognition to those guys who worked so hard to bring us the products we love for free.

That's great, but what does that mean?

Glad you asked! Here at the Ministry of Frag, we believe that supporting the efforts of those in the Open Source movement is one of the most important things that people who enjoy OSS can do. However, we know as well as anyone that it can be hard to justify a straight-up donation to a project, and sometimes we just want something in return for handing out our cold, hard cash! Well, through buying Ministry of Frag products, you can help support the projects we partner with! 25% of sales go directly to the projects themselves, while the rest go towards producing more merchandise and supporting future Open Source projects – and, in return, you get some swanky, high-quality merchandise that advertises your favorite projects! Everyone wins!

So you're partnering with Tremulous?

Well, we wouldn't be posting here if we weren't, now would we? But, in all seriousness, Tremulous is the first in what we hope to be a long series of open source projects that will be interested in partnering with the Ministry of Frag to help gain some more revenue. As such, the very first shirt being offered by the Ministry of Frag is a Tremulous branded shirt! We think this is not only a great step forward for the future of Tremulous development, but also a fantastic thing for the Tremulous community. Soon, you too can have your own official Tremulous merchandise.

A Tremulous t-shirt?

That's right! Our first design is a really awesome design based on the Tremulous buildables.



But we don't plan on stopping there! Expect more Tremulous based t-shirt designs (and perhaps other Tremulous merchandise Granger) in the future!

I want one!

That's great, and we want you to have one! Be aware, though, that this first t-shirt run is very limited. If you want to get your hands on one of the first run of official Tremulous t-shirts, you'll have to be quick! We expect this batch to very likely run out within the first week, so get yours NOW!

Where can I find out more about the Ministry of Frag?

Well, you can head right on over to our shiny and well-organized website, www.ministryoffrag.org. There you'll not only find a variety of information about the Ministry of Frag and what we're up to, but also our forums – where you can talk about the Ministry of Frag, our products, and games that we partner with/games you think we SHOULD partner with. The Ministry of Frag isn't just an online shop, it's a community for likeminded people who are interested in supporting FOSS games through providing (and purchasing) great-looking merchandise.

As such, let us know what you think! You can contact us through our contact forms on our website, our forums, or even leaving a message in this thread. Let us know how you feel about our mission, our message, and our products. Become a part of the MoFrag community. Show your support for Tremulous by buying some of our products. Together we can lead the way to the future of OSS marketing!

Definitely a pretty cool shirt. If I wasn't terribly broke atm, I'd probably get one. Might hold out for something with a Granger on it, tho.

All cart issues have now been resolved, sorry for the inconvinence. All orders from yesteday shipped today!

I can neither confrim nor deny any plans for plushie grangers, however I can say that monies used from sales of Tremulous t-shirts will be used for other Tremulous merchandise. So other than posting your request on our forums, buying the other Tremulous T-shirts is the best way to make it happen.

It's a nice attempt, but I wouldn't buy it. It's legs are a bit to thin for a start. If anything, the legs should be even wider than the original (for extra cuteness!!).
