shotgun is one  of those weapons where you can own the alien team no matter what their skill level is . I've seen many games where one human using shotgun with other combinations have destroyed and owned the other team. Its like this, if a person has a certain amount of skill, he/she can use the shotty to rack up kills and win the game whether he utilizes other weapons. The shotgun is extremely effective because it can take down all types of classes. It can basically own the whole game no matter what type of alien you throw at it, well excluding tyrants cus those things are cheap lol. It just annihaltes the other team. Its only drawback is its basekilling ability where you have to be close to the structures to kill them but they are effective in destroying trappers quickly. I've seen many players including myself, dracfag, st. anger, power, ozzy, and some others use the shotty the entire game and winning without letting the other team getting more than 4-5 kills.The shotty is effective in owning dretches at close range that you don't even have to worry about fighting a goon. Though i think owning at the game would be a little more sophisticated than just goon and shotty. maybe shotty goon tyrant dretch and rifle.and maybe luci.
