ive seen a noob one to may times takeout his/her temmates/base with a bad flamer gout of luci shot (nades are worse Tongue)

so i thought what about duplicating guns making them very cheap (or even free) but have their damage cut (between 1 and 10) so noobs can practise without fear of killing their teamates.

its something anyone with basic scripting skill can do i just though some severs could include this.

give tthe guns name like Practise genade/luci/flamer and we might see a few less mistakes.

Why?

Whats the point of wasting money on such things? Or time of the coder?

The problem is, if the player is truly a "newb" and willing to learn, they'll not need a nerf gun so they don't accidentally kill teammates.  If they're a "noob", then they won't buy one and will shoot their own team/base just to watch it die and watch people kickvote them.

Lol, so we're giving the humans weapons that are practically harmless? So newbs can buy them, use them and won't tk (that's the plan if I'm right). So...they start with a rifle, sell it and buy something that does less damage?

its so noobs can practise with the weapons most likely to cause accidentaly teamkills in the hands of an inexperinced player

the idea is they're free and harmless (possible with the added effect of making the area they shoot turn temporaraly blue/red ect.. so the noob can see what they shot)

and thus we get less flamer teamkills (or nade for that matter) and blood pressure become drops to within acceptable perameters.

No. Let n00bs pick overly destructive Human weapons and then use them in their own base and around their own teammates. Maybe then they'll learn that doing that is a stupid idea. Meanwhile, I will be slashing at their damaged Armoury, after I vault their smoking turrets and the scattered bodies of their TK' d teammates. N00bs: they're what's for breakfast.

I think it's better for "n00bs" to learn the harsh world and be blamed for their mistakes fair and square. Don't forget patience from better players. It doesn't mean end of the world if you lose a round. (Ynless you make local bet between "friends" of your life. But only idiot gambles their lives by betting on team with n00bs.)

Now would you use diaper is asked to? I sure would not.

Okay, when you said 'nerf guns', many people thought 'nerfed guns'.
I realized that you really mean 'Nerf brand foam weaponry'.
As long as aliens are similarly armed with foam claws, it would not be the WORST training mod, but it would be far from the best.

I don't know if this has been "implemented" yet, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard, except for the fact that it would be a server side modification, but it would be good if servers had this: I think the best solution to destroyer noobs would be to have building friendly fire "reflect." That is if some n00b started using a lucifer cannon on the base it would hurt him.

Just and idea.

you dont untill you can actually hit them safely with a nerfed gun there's no way in hell anyone (if they had the option) would let you use a real luci.

step 1 - spawn w/ rifle
step 2 - try to kill things
step 3 - if you do use share/donate, don't give excessive funds to people who don't deserve them
step 4 - work on your aim
step 5 - if you actually get good enough to get a BFG-type major damage weapon:
a) all things in Tremulous, and indeed all things in general, have a downside; don't get cocky
b) if you are smart enough to play this FPS/RTS game, yet dumb enough to use tools designed for destroying the enemy base in your own base, you deserve to be yelled at by the very people who you are screwing over by tk-ing and damage-deconning, namely, your poor teammates
c) if this is the first game you've ever played, grab a rifle and try to cover someone who can actually aim and kill the enemy
step 6 - play as Alien once in a while (there's never any team-damage happening on the Alien team) Roll Eyes Tongue
step 7 - delete this thread

I have a better idea.

Turn TK off. Or if you rather have it your way, turn tk off selectively on marked players.
