are volt et al. pushing a new game?
«
on:

F1rst19 announced that "he and 2 others" are working on a new game. their website is gregorein.com with "grego" replaced with "tibe". volt's involvement is given away by the fact that the videos on that website use volt's music (which he made or stole), and also the fact that F1rst19 tried to deny volt's involvement until i pointed out the music.
if you want to troll something, consider trolling their effort.
(btw, the website is missing some functionality, but at least it's more professional than unvanquished.net in terms of use of google analytics.)

their website is gregorein.com with "grego" replaced with "tibe".
Where did you get 'gregorein' from? Did you mean 'Gregorian'?
Examples of nouns ending in 'ein' include: compounds like 'acrolein' and 'protein'; German words like 'ein' and 'stein', or short nouns like 'rein' and 'vein'. So their fake word would rhyme with 'obscene', 'asinine' or 'inane' respectively.

Hi, my name is Gregorein, which is pronounced as "greggo rain". I am known for my modeling activities and involvement with TremZ/Unvanquished.

I pronounce 'vein' as 'vain' rather than 'veen' and 'rein' like 'rain' rather than 'reen'...

'asinine' ... respectively
So, according to you, 'rein' and 'vein' rhyme with 'asinine'

English Lesson Time!

So we have 3 listed types of word each rhyming with one of the words in the last sentence.
'acrolein' and 'protein' => 'obscene' (or green, spleen and tambourine)
'ein' and 'stein' => 'asinine' (or shine, sign and finest wine)
'rein' and 'vein' => 'inane' (or rain, spain and soggy plane)
I'm not too happy about having to explain this.

Oops; sorry, I misread that as it being matched with the last items.

One would use "and" with "respectively" rather than "or".

'inane' respectively.

No. This would change the meaning of the sentence. I am not saying that their word rhymes with all three words.
'Respectively' means "in the order given" irrespective of coordinating conjunction.

I know what respectively means and it is used with "and"
Even the example you found with google uses "and".

"You're either
a troll
or
you still
don't understand
. Therefore I should
keep trying to explain
or
stop responding
."
- Doesn't respect the order given but doesn't say it does either.
"You're either
a troll
or
you still
don't understand
. Therefore I should
stop responding
or
keep trying to explain
,
respectively
."
- Says it respects the order given and does.
"You're either
a troll
or
you still
don't understand
. Therefore I should
stop responding
and
keep trying to explain
,
respectively
."
- Says I should do two mutually exclusive things.
That isn't to say the last case can't still be understood (in the same way you could still understand what I meant despite not using the 'and' you felt necessary), just that what you are literally saying is impossible (that is: continuing to explain while at the same time stopping).
If you want to use an 'and' you could rephrase it as
"Therefore my options are
X
and
Y
, respectively"
because now you're not saying you should do both but just that both alternatives exist. The equivalent version of my original statement would be
"So words their fake word might rhyme with are 'obscene', 'asinine'
and
'inane' respectively"
.
EDIT:
Quote from: vcxzet on June 18, 2012, 05:43:21 PM
Even the example you found with google uses "and".
Why would I have a problem with that? 'And' is a coordinating conjunction, so it's just as fine an example as 'or' would have been.
EDIT #2:
I look at how the majority of posts in this thread are about my original on-topic post and I cry a little. It's been fun being the resident English teacher but now I say enough is enough.
